Urbanizacija seoskih naselja u planinskim područjima / Urbanisation of the Rural Settlements in Mountain Regions

Abstract

The process of urbanisation is happening in parallel to: the technological development, social relations, and a number of other factors, including the level of economic power of a society, latter often being decisive. Rural settlement's urbanisation is observed in respect to the necessary transformation of its organisational structure, and in terms of its connectivity in the network of settlements, as well as in respect of forming the new settlements or extinction of the abandoned ones. The improvement of life in villages may be expected if these settlements are to be integrated into smaller village communities, with multifunctional centres and better infrastructure, and especially, with good connections to the urban centres, all of which are to be guided through planning activity. For a fulfilment of what has been planned, it is necessary to create the strategies, both on national and on a local level, which are clear, flexible, and feasible. It is also required to activate the 'big projects', e.g. consolidation of areas, which were abandoned long time ago, in order to create an ambience for a greater exploitation efficiency of agricultural and forest lands. The key issue is the strategy of economic development in whole, which would provide the necessary conditions for work and production, and these would sustain a high quality of living and alternative advantages of life in villages in comparison to the life in cities.
