Abstract
The paper indicates the problems and trends in the industrial development and territorial distribution of the industry in Serbia. There are analyses of the possibilities for industrial development, based on fundamental goals, conditions and restrictions. The paper presents the possible scenarios of the industrial development in Serbia, which may have various influences to the territorial organization and industrial needs of a location. There guidance elements are considered for a new industrial plants allocation (locational factor, locational resources of territory, criteria for choosing for the new factories), concepts and models for the industrial distribution. As the conclusion, particular role of industrial, innovation, regional and environmental policy in the industrial development and its allocation is pointed out.
