The kinetics of adsorption of carbon tetrachloride from air mixtures by activated carbon cloth - The application of theoretical models

The kinetics of gas adsorption were studied in an air flow apparatus using carbon tetrachloride as the adsorbate and activated carbon cloth as the absorbent. Thee theoretical models: Wheelers, Yoon-Nelsons and Ackleys were used to characterize the performance of adosrbent. Wheelers and Ackleys models are in a good agreement with experimental data only for breakthrough percentage below 15%. The Yoon-Nelsons model agrees with experimental results over the entire range of contaminant breakthrough percentage.
